Richfield Minnesota Wet Basement And Foundation Waterproofing Projects
Great Lakes Waterproofing has been serving Richfield Minnesota for over to 20 years! Specializing in exterior basement waterproofing, our waterproofers stop water before it enters cracks and holes, moving through your walls onto your basement floor
Using bentonite and our exclusive pumping system, our waterproofing creates a barrier for water ,stopping it before it creates more damage to your wet basement walls. Richfield is known for it's family sized homes and larger yards while ringed by commercial and retail businesses and apartment buildings.
Richfield Ground Conditions
With the larger, mostly flat years, water seeks the area around foundations, we call it the bowl, the backfilled dirt that was placed when the home was built. It can be much more porous than the non-disturbed soil and if there's any cracks or holes in your foundation wall, will alow water to flow into your basement.

Waterproofing Richfield Addition
Richfield is a great Minnesota City but they have ground that holds a lot of moisture and with larger yards, the older homes can have wet basements.
This home had an addition several years ago, you can see the seam to the right of the hose bibb, under the siding. While additions are a great way to increase the size of your home, they also can be very difficult to waterproof long-term.
Most contractors smear concrete over the seam and backfill, which works great for years, but at some point the two foundation will move independently and a crack will develop.
Exterior waterproofing from Great Lakes Waterproofing can fix these issues. All-natural bentonite, injected as a slurry, will fill the crack and soil voids, setting up as a "living-membrane" stopping water outside of you home.
Richfield Gutter Filled With Plants and Dirt
Unfortunately in Minnesota we need to take care of our gutters, Great Lakes Waterproofing recommends cleaning out at least twice a year, especially if larger trees are in the yard.
When gutters fill up like this, roof water cannot get to the downspouts and will spill over the roof. A typical 50' x 30' roof will collect over 800 gallons with 1" of rain!
Imagine 16 50-gallon drums full of water dumped in one area by your foundation. If there's any cracks or holes, you will get water in your basement.
Once the water finds it's way through the wall, it will never stop, you can try to keep the area dry but we always have a rain or snow event that makes it impossible to protect 100% of the time
Richfield MN Townhome Foundation Crack
Can you see the crack under all the cable lines on this townhome? This is a pretty big opening, it will go from the top of the wall all the way to the floor, rarely do they stop midway.
In addition there's also a downspout and hose bibb in this corner. Add in the rock landscaping and the owner of this townhome gets a lot of water whenever it rains. Hopefully that downspout extension doesn't fall off!
The drain-tile waterproofing companies wanted to replace an existing system, which was working fine, they had no desire to fix the issue. The customer chose Great Lakes Waterproofing and stopped the water!
We only needed to work in this area at a fraction of the cost the other guys were quoting.
Richfield's Favorite Waterproofing Company since 1978!
